For better lives and improved societies, people must come to understand one another more deeply. The field of moral psychology is grounded in the insight that our understanding of humanity is enhanced by transcending disciplinary boundaries and collaborating as scholars and scientists on questions related to the psychological determinants of ethics and morality. The International Society for Moral Psychology is established with the recognition that the most impactful research and transformative learning transcend not only disciplinary boundaries but also geographic ones. As we study moral psychology, we are mindful that one scholar’s – or nation’s – intractable challenge is very possibly another’s challenge overcome. We learn from one another, and the facts, values, and changing circumstances of the world. |
